Description:Hainan hill partridge Arborophila ardens is found only on the island of Hainan, off the south of China, and it is restricted to primary tropical evergreen forest. It has been listed as one of the vulnerable species (Fuller et al., 2000; BirdLife International, 2001), because it has a small severely fragmented range and population, and it is continuing to decline because of ongoing habitat loss and thought to have undergone a rapid population reduction.
